Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

Welcome to Invisible Pencil, a professional platform that helps organisations evaluate content authenticity through process-based writing signal analysis. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Professional Use

The Service is intended for professional use by content teams, publishers, agencies, research organisations, and any organisation that maintains editorial quality workflows. By using the Service, you confirm that you are accessing it for a legitimate professional purpose.

  • Content teams seeking to maintain editorial quality and content integrity standards.
  • Publishers and agencies requiring authorship confidence indicators for professional workflows.
  • Organisations building transparent, consensual writing environments for their contributors.

2. Consensual Writing Environment

The platform is designed to operate as a consensual writing environment. Writing signals are generated only when users voluntarily create content within the Invisible Pencil editor.

  • Workspace owners are responsible for informing invited writers that the platform collects writing signals as part of its standard operation.
  • The platform analyses writing signals created during content development sessions — such as editing activity, session structure, and interaction patterns within the editor.
  • The platform does not access external devices, files, applications, or any activity outside the Invisible Pencil editor environment.
  • Signal collection begins only when a writer actively engages with a document within the platform.

3. No Guaranteed Outcomes

The platform provides authorship confidence indicators based on writing signal analysis. These indicators are intended to support informed editorial decisions, not to replace them.

  • The Service provides probabilistic confidence indicators derived from writing signal patterns.
  • Results should be interpreted as supportive insights for editorial review, not as absolute determinations of authorship.
  • No claim of complete certainty or definitive proof is made or implied by the platform.
  • Final interpretation of any writing signal data remains with the workspace administrator or editorial team.

4. Acceptable Use

By using the Service, you agree not to engage in any of the following:

  • Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the platform's proprietary algorithms or systems.
  • Attempting to manipulate, spoof, or artificially influence writing signals to misrepresent content authenticity.
  • Using the Service for any purpose that is unlawful, deceptive, or harmful to others.
  • Using automated scripts, bots, or any non-human interaction to generate signals within the platform.
  • Interfering with the performance, integrity, or security of the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Using the Service to make unfounded or defamatory claims about individuals based on platform outputs.

5. Accounts and Workspaces

  • Users who create accounts are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials.
  • Workspace owners are responsible for all activity conducted within their workspace, including the conduct of invited writers.
  • You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account.
  • Each workspace is isolated — data from one workspace is not accessible to any other workspace.

6. Subscription and Billing

  • Some features require a paid subscription. Details of available plans are published on the pricing page.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • Pricing may change with reasonable notice provided in advance.
  • Payments are processed securely via Stripe. Invisible Pencil does not store payment card details.
  • Refunds are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy.

7. Intellectual Property

  • All software, algorithms, platform features, and user interface elements are proprietary to Invisible Pencil.
  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, sublicense, or reverse engineer any part of the Service.
  • Users retain full ownership of the written content they create within the platform.
  • Writing signal data associated with a workspace belongs to that workspace and is not used across other workspaces or sold to third parties.

8. Service Availability

  • We aim to provide reliable and consistent access to the Service.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability and may conduct maintenance or updates that temporarily affect access.
  • We may update, modify, or discontinue platform features with reasonable notice where feasible.

9. Limitation of Liability

  • The Service provides writing signal insights and authenticity confidence indicators. These should not be treated as definitive proof of authorship or the basis for legal proceedings.
  • We are not liable for business decisions, employment decisions, or contractual decisions made using platform outputs.
  • Our total liability in connection with the Service is limited to the fees paid by you in the three months prior to the relevant claim.

10. Termination

  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the violation.
  • Users may cancel subscriptions at any time through their account settings.
  • Upon termination, workspace data remains accessible for 30 days before permanent deletion, giving users time to export any required information.

11. Changes to Terms

  • We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in the platform or applicable regulations.
  • We will notify users of material changes by email or through the platform.
  • Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
